Overview
One hundred years after the appearance of the Titans, humanity receives a grim reminder of the threat that the Titans pose. Under the belief that they were safe behind the Walls, a Colossal Titan peers over the Walls and breaks the Wall. A young boy and his foster sister do what they can to save their mother, trapped below the debris of their fallen house, but they are forced to flee when a disturbing Titan appears. The boy watches as, before his eyes, the Titan picks her up and eats her.
Summary
The giant hand of a Titan above Wall Maria, mankind's outermost Wall, inauspiciously lingers over the spectators underneath, expanding in wonderment. The storyteller clarifies how on that day, mankind got a horrid reminder, and how they lived in dread of the Titans and were disrespected to live in the cages they called Walls.
Earlier that day, past the Walls, the Scout Regiment are going through a forest when they experience a Titan. The officers attempt to attack it with an end goal to build up humanity's first base outside their own Walls. Shutting in, they break into five gatherings, with some as lure and some as assault, and begin utilizing their omni directional mobility gear and launch attack.
Inside the safety of the Walls, a kid, Eren Jaeger, rises from a dream crying. His receptive sister Mikasa Ackermann asks him for why he is crying, yet Eren can't recall what he was dreaming about. Eren, looking behind on Hannes' shoulder, heaves as he sees the Titan move debris of the house away, peering toward Carla. The Titan snatches her and Eren shouts for it to stop. It crushes her spirit with its hands and eats up her, blood spewing from its mouth. Eren can just think back in gloom as the Titan eats up his mom, blood splattered over itself and the ground underneath.
